ADAT Trustee Agnes Mam Fallah Kamara has been working hard to actualize the first autism classroom in Monrovia, Liberia. Her Excellency Jewel Howard-Taylor, the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia supported the building of the Autism classroom and dedicated it on 26th October, 2018.
The Classroom was built by Straight from the Heart https://www.straight-from-the-heart.org. Other sponsors include A Friendly Face, which is a NYC licensed provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children diagnosed with autism and the Eden II & Genesis Foundation in the USA.
The classroom named after Arthur- a Kenyan boy and Zwannah, a Liberian young man is dubbed “Arthur and Zwannah Autism First Classroom in Liberia”. It is located at the Abundant Grace Day Care and Primary School on GSA Road Paynesville City Liberia.
A Friendly Face have also trained and facilitated the first 6 Registered Behavior Therapists (RBTs). 3 are teachers seconded from the Liberia Ministry of Education and 3 are social workers. These 6 will work with the children in the classroom.
